I've been using the built in spam filter in Thunderbird for a while now. It's worked reasonably well, but not spectacularly. With the recent upsurge in spam (principly to a non-university account I use) the Thunderbird filter just isn't cutting it. It isn't screening many, many spam messages (maybe 10-30% of the spam), and it has flagged a few messages as spam from friends I often correspond with. The filter also doesn't seem to have almost any options for tuning.

Can anyone suggest a decent filter that will work with Thunderbird and get better results than the built-in one? I'm looking for something that will be pretty easy to setup and configure to work with Thunderbird. It doesn't have to be perfect, just a bit better than Thunderbird while still being pretty easy to use.

Thanks,

Nick
