Hi, Can you post this to the UMD LUG list (if it hasn't already gotten there)? Thanks!
Subject: Call for Presenters: FOSSED-DC, August 6-8 Hi, Last summer, a few of the folks from this area attended the NELS conference at the University of New Hampshire (http://fossed.net/). The success of past NELS events, plus some nudging from local attendees has inspired the organizers to expand southward to Gallaudet University in northeast Washington, DC. This conference is designed to show teachers and others in the education field ways that they can take advantage of Open Source Software. There will be hands-on technical presentations for those looking to implement open source solutions immediately, as well as more general presentations that examine innovative uses of the technology to stimulate young minds and encourage creativity, usually saving money in the process. Local high school students will be participating and continuing the development of CanDo -- part of an open source school management project known as Schooltool during the conference. I've been tasked with seeking more presenters. A PRELIMINARY schedule can be found at: http://dc.ubuntu-us.org/events/2007/fossed-dc.php where you'll also find a link to an OpenOffice spreadsheet version of the schedule. PLEASE NOTE: It's PRELIMINARY, and NOT official. This is merely provided to give potential presenters an idea of what types of presentations are being sought. The organizers would like to keep a firm grip on what's happening, so please don't spread the URL or schedule beyond the list without informing me. Thanks. ____________________________________________________________ [This message is digitally signed with the GNU Privacy Guard (GPG).
