Linux System Administrator
Robert Half Technology is looking for a talented, knowledgeable and motivated full-time Linux System Administrator. The work is challenging, fast paced and intellectually stimulating. This person will play an active role in building/supporting production operations and software development environment. Requirements: * 3+ years Unix SA experience; * Prior experience with the admin & tuning of LAMP & java applications; * Experience with standard UNIX utilities, applications, & scripting (e.g., cron, shell, etc), and the automation of administrative tasks; * Experience supporting web application in a 24x7 environment; and * Excellent oral and written communication skills. Responsibilites: * Hands-on support of all products, services and systems in all Operations Engineering supported environments: Production, testing and development; * Systems / Web Server Administration for: Linux, Apache; * Participate in design reviews, recommend changes to environment architecture for new services and service releases; * Work with application development teams on troubleshooting issues as well as designing optimal solutions for hosting applications; * Monitor system performance using the available tools, and modify system-tuning parameters as appropriate; * Build tools and utilities to aid production support, such as monitoring and automated problem resolution; * Oversee system recovery after failures due to hardware or system software errors, and assist in recovery after failures due to user or application software errors if required; * Maintain environments at current patch levels, following configuration management practices; and * Documents system configurations, provides and/or maintains Operational documentation.
