This Thursday night is the next UMLUG meeting. We'll have a presentation on
Git by Matt McCutchen. A synopsis follows:

I will present the philosophy, design, and features of the git version
control system ( http://git.or.cz/ ), and we will see it in action on a
real open-source software project. This talk will give you the basic
knowledge necessary to start storing your own work in git. I also hope
to bring you to appreciate some of the issues involved in version
control and why git is such a great solution. Pizza and drinks will be
provided.

This presentation will be hands-on. To get the most out of it, please
bring your own Linux computer with git installed ("{yum,apt-get} install
git-core" or the equivalent for your distribution). The remaining
materials will be provided on a Web page at the presentation. If you
can't do this, you can look on with someone else or just listen to me.

I hope to see you all there,
John
