On a redhat/fedora system, rpm can tell you what files have changed,
and have configuration files marked. So if you run:

% rpm -Va | grep ' c ' # that's <space><letter c><space>

it will give you a list of all of your config files that you've
modified. Running the verify over your entire machine takes a while,
because it's doing sha1 and md5 sums of all files but is a useful
command (works as a poor mans tripwire as well).
