Hi Emery, I think that maybe our machine was used for some other things in the past, but it's pretty much just serving HTTP and rsync for the past few years. All we do is keep it up and not too slow, and try to mirror popular projects as people request them.
However, the size of the mirror is relatively large. I think lately we’re using 3+TB on our storage array, which is 4x2TB disks in a raidz (like RAID-5) array. The disks are generally kept quite busy with a lot of traffic. I think there’s about 100mbps of network traffic nearly constantly. I’d like to be wrong, but I can’t imagine this much space could ever be allocated for us on (e.g.) AFS. Could we bring our own disks for storage somehow?
