By download do you mean you did a checkout of trunk (using tortoisesvn
or something similar) ? Or did you download some umit package ?

I think you did install some package, so it could be an older version
where umit had share/ with a different structure.

Yes, please.

All the current translations need work, yes, all them. If anyone is
willing to contribute on this area, checkout umit trunk and adjust any
of the translations you are familiar with. Right now all them lack
translation of several strings, besides there are fuzzy translations
that also needs to be fixed.
