Hello,

First of all, Congo and Cheers!!... for Umit 1.0 :)

Thanks for the introduction, Rodolfo. Yes, HTML5 can help in that
matter, in fact I'm currently about to finish my Software Engineering Course
project developing a real-time multiuser collaborative scribblepad with
websockets ( for making real time but firefox 4 still doesn't support it :( )
and canvas and even using local storage to decrease the load on server.
Topology
or even the network inventory's timeline and statistics representation feature
can surely be implemented using canvas.

I spent some hours looking at code of network inventory and umit core
and
now i have some basic idea about how it works. As I'm making a rough draft for
my proposal, I wanted to clarify the problem statement. What we are going to
develop is a real-time feature a plugin for the umit scanner including feature
of capturing SNMP traps coming from NAS, printers, bridges etc. (as given in
the
statement) except for computer hosts which will have our small application that
will send difference (i.e. whenever it detects the difference) in Nmap scan
results of itself to the server. I see how it will give new dimension to the
umit Inventory, making it more proactive. Then integrating it with Network
Inventory's GUI and developing notification feature using this API.

Sorry for the misunderstanding in the previous mail, I wanted to ask if
there was a NAT between the client and server instead of firewall. Sorry. I'm
little confused about what should I include in my proposal. Can you tell what
you are expecting out of a proposal?? i.e. to what detail it should be.
