Hi,

I don't know where to report these issues, but here goes.
I'm using unattended 4.5 currently. I have samba setup and it appears to be functioning properly. (copying large and many small files in windows worked flawlessly). Booting with the linux iso however doesn't work. isntallation startsup fine, but somewhere when copying files at the end of the 'a' range going towards the b's samba times out. not on the same file, but everytime around 3% or so. the dos disk works flawlessly in this area so it can't really be my samba can it?

Anyway, i'd prefer the linux disk, but as the dos version works, on with that.

I've tried several approaches. But first what goes wrong. the unattended part works fine, but when windows does it's second start (first from the hdd) it goes onto checking my disk. which is cleanly formatted in several ways which i'll sumirze below. It then tells me it performed some maintanance and must reboot. after the reboot setup continues, let's me choose wether i want to use fat32(yes) or convert to ntfs (nah) but right after that (when it wants to start copying files from the 'cd/dir') it tells me they are missing. After instecting with my gentoo install cd what's on my hdd all the installed files are in a 'checked.000' dir ala scandisk checked it and truncated everything (bootex.log says so also). So that's it. I'm screwed.

Installing windows 2000 from a 3in1 cd (server advanced server and proffesional) inc. sp4 works fine, formatting and everything.
Using that cd as base, i also tried,

formatting the drive using arconis partitioning tool to recreate hda1 and format it.
using the supplied dos bootcd and:
format only, fdisk +format, fdisk+format+reinstall mbr.
also i tried formatting with the windows CD, and just before it starts copying files abort it, then in the unattended setup 'skip' the formattin all together.

All these methods result in the same. everything that the winnt.exe installer copies from the network is 'corrupt' and needs to be 'truncated'.

Since this is not my own orignal cd (i couldn't find it anymore) I did get it from a friend. This CD normally doesn't require a key or anything, so I do belive it could have been modified (where it's not entirely suitable for unattended anymore?) But since the CD works 'normally' I can't see why it's broken. However I allready asked another friend for his original CD which I am waiting for, one without SP4 slipstreamed into it.

Any suggestions regarding my samba under linux, or corrupting install would be appreciated.

oliver
