For may site, all machine will install 7zip, which I think unzip is not a great problem. (I am not sure you install 7zip is because of this problem).
On the other hand, I wornder why don't place a unzipped version on the server and use command like copy or xcopy?
Last month, I add a new font package to the unattended (about 7xxMB of ttf file), I planned to zip it in order to reduce network traffic. However the tradeoff is every machine need extra computing power to unzip it. It tested with a PD machine but I find that, it takes quit a long time to zip it. And my size still having many PIII machine. Finally I decided not to zip it.
I think if you concern network traffic more (fast machine, slow network) please zip it, while if you concern computing power more (slow machine, fast network) please extract it frist.
But I don't really know how large is your library and is it a must to put the zipped verion on the server.
