Hello everybody ;-), We use the unatteded scripts since nearly 2 years and we are very happy about it. we install nearly every our quite 250 computer and server over these scripts with the help of a mysql database an a few self created scripts. i also have coded a few php scripts for a easy to use "end user" website which can be used to made all settings for a "unatted windows installation". the windows setup installs everything over the network automatically (tftp, dhcp) included the drivers and software which is needed. you don't have to do more than type the typ and mac addresse for the pc you want to install into the php powered website and press "go" - reboot and wait a few hours and you have a complete new installed pc. you see unattended is really cool ;-)
Like nearly everybody, i use the cvs version from unatteded with a self made Makefile for the "linuxboot" dir. By the use of the new linux kernel a few problems with new pc`s are gone. also i use a small workaround for the NTLDR_NOT_FOUND problem (http://ubertechnique.com/unattended/NTLDRNotFound) for our ibm laptops. A long time ago i have a discussion about a new release (http://www.mail-archive.com/unattended-devel@lists.sourceforge.net/msg00591.html). But there wasn't any result at that time. In my opinion there should be the following on the roadmap: - Release a new Version (CVS based) - Release a new Version which uses BartPE ( ) - Release a good Howto use Unatteded with WPKG - Update the Website ! (Maybe more People with cvs Access or a CMS or a Wiki ?) - Update the Documentation (Maybe use the Wiki for that ? Translations ?) - More People with CVS Access to Update the scripts more regularly - A IRC Channel ? (Maybe i can put one at irc.freenode ?) - A who is who ? - A "Table of Hardware" (Which Hardware - like HP5150 etc. / or ATA Controller lol - is supported) - A "Table of OS" (I thing this is already in the wiki) Maybe i come up with more ideas tommorow ;-) or somebody else have other ideas - maybe we can collect the suggestions at the wiki ? My opinion for the CMS or simple to have a better maintenance is to use: Sourceforge (maybe with a CMS / Wiki and more people with cvs access) or to use Trac ? I be happy to help ! (I save so many time with unattended, so there should be enough time to help) I can also offer webspace from my server, help with the documentation, and so on... ? I'm glade to see that there is more action around a new release and for a updated website - unatteded isn't dead i use it every day ;-) Best regards and greetings to everybody, Tobi ---------------------------------------- Best Regards, Tobias 'tri' Richter Visit me at: http://opt.imi.st ---------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
