I install the Vista OS with a bootable DVD that was tailored using 
www.vlite.net, for app deployment I use my own appsonly script, see here:
http://ubertechnique.com/unattended/appsonly

For Win XP installs on new machines I use an nLite-prepared CD and then 
also appsonly script. Older PCs work well with Unattended's original 
Linux-Boot-CD.
