Hello, Reading the mail-lists it seems like there is a need for a new release.
First, I have looked at getting the linuxboot to compile under Debian Lenny, but Im not quite sure what routes to go as there is some alternatives.. Perl: Perl 5.8.8 needs a little patch to be compiled with a newer gcc. The alternative is to use a newer perl, but Im unsure if this will break any of the scripts. Can anyone enlighten me about this? Parted: I have looked at parted 1.8.8 Im not shure if the way to go is a patch for parted 1.8.8, but it looks like it. Parted 1.8.8 will also need some changes to regexes for parsing parted's output in install.pl. Can someone give a hand here? glibc: The easy way to go is to use different glibc versions depending on the building host. Is it ok to just do a: #glibc version to use: 2.3.6 for Debian Etch, 2.4.1 for Debian Lenny. # 2.x.x for RHx (and so on) as comments in the Makefile? Its also trivial to remove all the glibc-linuxthreads bits.. Looks like its not needed anymore? oh, and nano is broken, I have a patch on my laptop. Will post. Kernel: Seems like some patches to vanilla kernel is needed. Do we have the patches ready? dosemu: Just nuke and forget it, or include it in one more release? As long as we do not have issues it can stay.. I will post updated 'dosemu alternative' patches as soon as the build hurdles is out of the way :-) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
