well I managed to get things working.
I did not include the following changes !!!

Add usr and lib directories to the linux boot (nail-floppy.txt)

so I still have /lib and /usr  on the network as well as dosemu. I don't know 
whether this caused my problem. I'll try to test this today.

what I'm doing now is doing an update of each packet and writing a new bootcd. 
a lot of work but I want to know what's wrong.

tried burning it on another machine too? Last year i had the same kind of weird 
errors with other cdimages (ubcd eg) until i switched to another machine for 
burning...
