Hi, I've been trying to get this to compile completely without stopping on a Debian Lenny machine. I haven't had complete success yet. However, this is what I've seen so far in case it helps anyone else.
1) On Lenny, gcc-4.3 fails to build the version of glibc in the makefile while if you use gcc-4.1 it works. 2) Perl 5.8.8 fails to build. There was a note about this on a perl mailing list. 5.8.9 seems to compile just fine. Changing from 5.8.8 to 5.8.9 should be a safe change.
