It still bombs out on dosemu on my Debian Lenny machine.

Glibc compiles fine, and this is good progress. Thanks!

I probably will have to try some more combinations of glibc/gcc 
and some other fiddling before I get thru..


How about making the Dosemu part optional?
Are there still use cases that need it?

Thinking about it a bit more: 
We can not use dosemu in our setup even if we wanted to.
The main reason is the 8.3 filename limitation, but also others..
