I'm not so stuck on one particular source control system. However, I would
strongly suggest one of the
distributed ones. Once you get used to a DVCS, particularly when you are
working with a project where
only some of the developers have write access to the main repository, you'll
wonder how you ever did without
it. With the main DVCS programs, it is easy for a central maintainer to
receive contributions from others and
then integrate them. The advantage of git is that it makes it easier to track
the patch back to the original
author as opposed to the person who committed it to the main repository.

Personally, I would suggest Mercurial, Git, and Bazaar ahead of SVN for that
reason.

On the other hand, Trac is really nice for what it offers and a choice that
works with Trac would be good. (I
looked on the feaure requests. The Git-Trac plugin is very requested and
probably will come.)

The main reason why I hadn't suggested changing anything before is that the
script update tools worked with the
CVS repository. Unfortunately, since 4.8 was just released, if the switch is
made now to something other than
CVS, new installs using just the release files won't work for script updates.
Of course this only requires the
one script to change.

I think it is your choice. However, the update to the script update tool
should be ready first.

Allan.
