Hi devvers :) As mentioned in earlier posts to this list i have been working on a webinterface to install multiple operating systems. The unattended project fits perfectly in this to support installing WinXP/2K3. Since this would be a great addition to broaden the unattended platform i'd like to share two vmware server 1.x images with the developers and would like to have some feedback on if it can be usefull for some upcoming unattended release.
* Whats included: -image1: mirror server, just read the docs to fill this so you have a quick local mirror. -image2: osinst, the central hub. It gives out dhcp and contains pxe/nfs/tftp/http for retrieval of important files. There is a local sql database installed to track installation and store templates. The php gui is presented using Apache. * Features: -ability to install multiple operating systems completely unattended (just fill in the form and boot from pxe) Currently supports: CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, FreeBSD, WindowsXP, Windows 2003, Windows 2008 (Windows7 is doable if someone can create a template for it) -use a simple webform to supply basic installation details (ipv4, hostname, rootpass etc) -edit installation templates from the webgui (and store them in the database) -easy windows driver support using search-win-drivers.pl -store all your servers in the database (since we depend solely on the mac address to install) -when booting from pxe, get the option to start: memtest86, gparted-live, trinity-rescue-kit, interactive VMware ESXi setup There are probably some key features im forgetting here but the installation docs are included. Just login to the osinst machine, fetch its ip and browse to the address. From there on you can view the docs page. Also, if someone would like more details just drop a note and ill try and answer it :) There is a good chance that there are some bugs that have not been fixed in the image and still reside on my trunk... (perhaps even break the installer for some operating systems...) Just tell me what does or doesn't work and ill try and patch it :) Some files are privately branded/'versioned', just ignore that :) Please, do not exchange the sources etc. with anyone outside this list. If this is a nice addition to the project i'll happily donate it all but till then, just keep it private.
