I was worried about the snapshot files, as I didn't know if they were required or not. I used virtualbox to run the vmdk, and it worked just fine, but I didn't pursue anything after logging in, as I didn't know if I needed to boot from the snapshot. If the snapshot is really just a leftover, and not required, I should be able to use it.
I noticed that the osinst.vmx refers to a scsi hard drive, although my version of virtualbox only uses ide drives. This doesn't seem to be a problem, since / is on lvm. Since the osinst machine is providing a dhcp server, I'm going to have to use a separate internal network to test things out on. I'm also going to have to free up a bit more memory before I can test this out. Do you think I can get by just using 128M on each server, instead of 256M? ... a few hours later Ok, I ran the osinst (but not the mirror, yet) and just got the centos default apache page when I browsed to it. Perhaps the snapshot is required after all? -- Thanks: Joseph Rawson
