Never mind, I just RTFM and saw in the comments in script-update that it doesn't download new files.
I suggest that this should be a function of the script - perhaps it could be changed so that it takes a command-line argument and either 'just updates existing' or 'updates and downloads new' depending on what parameter is given? I'd try and do it myself, but my bash-fu is weak...
