If you create your +AD4- z:+AFw-site+AFw-unattend.txt with appropriate values in this section, the +AD4- corresponding questions will be skipped. +AD4- I apologize for the long delay in writing the documentation for +AD4- advanced configuration. Until I do, look in C:+AFw-netinst+AFw-unattend.txt +AD4- after you finish an installation to get an idea of the available +AD4- settings in +AFsAXw-meta+AF0-. Okay, I looked at the created unattend.txt file, but see no info on partitioning commands. I only have the replace+AF8-mbr, format+AF8-cmd, post+AF8-install+AF8-script, and OS values. Are the partitioning commands set here, or are they wiped out after install? +AD4- The install share name is tricky because it has to be known before the +AD4- network drive is mounted. There is no obvious way to get this +AD4- information from the network, unless maybe we can find some way to +AD4- access DHCP options... Hm, that gives me an idea... Yeah...of course. I don't know what I was thinking there. +AFs-g+AF0- Though if you can figure a way to retrieve it thru DHCP options, that'd be great (maybe thru the TFTP filename?). +AD4- In the current release, the OS choices are not hard coded+ADs- they are +AD4- derived from the available folders. The post install scripts are +AD4- still hard coded, and I am planning to fix that soon. This requires +AD4- being able to recognize the post-install scripts+ADs- the easiest way is +AD4- probably to put them in a special directory. I am probably going to +AD4- name that director +ACI-postinst+ACI-, unless someone else has a better +AD4- suggestion? Any chance of just appending a string to beginning/end of the script name (eg., base-workstation.bat or something) or would it be too hard to seperate out? That would save the (admittedly minimal) trouble of using relative paths for the application scripts. +AD4- I just do Notes client configuration as part of walking the new user +AD4- through logging in the first time. They have to change their password +AD4- in a bazillion places, anyway... +AD4- +AD4- - Pat I'm still looking into a decent way of doing Notes. For now, I'm just configuring it manually. Hopefully Notes will go away soon and I can go back to being an underworked admin. Other thoughts after running a few machines through Unattended: +ACo-Have you thought about using Bart's Network Bootdisk (http://www.nu2.nu/bootdisk/network/) for the initial boot? Main reason would be the PCI auto detection and wealth of NIC drivers (esp. PCMCIA) already written for it. +ACo-The win2ksp3-notips.pl script still leaves the Internet Connection Wizard desktop icon for new users. It's coming from the Software+AFw-MS+AFw-Win+AFw-CurrVer+AFw-RunOnce+AFwAXABe-SetupICWDesktop key, but it needs to be removed from both the HKU+AFw-.Default tree and the Default User NTUSER.DAT file. I can get it out of the HKU tree, but my Perl is nowhere near good enough (okay, I just picked up Perl last week) to get it out of the NTUSER.DAT file (or understand your notips.pl script). Could it be added to notips.pl script? +ACo-A few things I added that may be of use to others: Directory name and File Completion on the CMD line (simple registry entry, but very useful) Perl script to add Trusted/Restricted Domains to IE's Security Zones. Batch file to add printers by rundll32 commands Oh, and the reason you're getting the +ACI-Previous Operating System on C:+AFwAIg- in the boot.ini file is because the drive is bootable to DOS before Win2K is loaded, so Win2K setup captures the boot sector and puts it into BOOTSECT.DOS to boot to it. No biggie, just FYI. Thanks again for releasing this...I may just make it back to underworked admin sooner than I think+ACE- mark+AEA-cne-inc.com ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.NET email is sponsored by: SourceForge Enterprise Edition + IBM + LinuxWorld = Something 2 See! http://www.vasoftware.com _______________________________________________ unattended-info mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/unattended-info
