Friends,

Has anybody managed to get a winxp pro machine to join a samba 2.2.x DOMAIN?

I know, from doing it manually, that one has to run
regedit /s WinXP.reg BEFORE one can use the

Control Panel -> System -> Computer Name -> Change button and it's wizard to join the domain using the Domain Admin credentials.

However I have not found a way to run this command line early enough in the unattended install process for it to be successfull.

What and where would you add the "regedit /s WinXP.reg" command? Adding it as a step to be done by the "postinst.bat" appears to be "too late".

I have tried copying cmdlines.txt to \i386\$OEM$ and adding the "e:cmdlines.txt" switch to the winnt invocation and hoping that the commands inside cmdlines.txt would be run at the end of the GUI install. But I have found that no matter what or how I enter commands in that file, they never seem to get executed, what am I missing?

I have even followed the debugging/troubleshooting of cmdlines.txt instructions by MS
( http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];177462 )
and to no avail. The cmdlines.txt file does not get executed BUT the cmdlines.txt file appears to be copied to the temporary installation folder on c:\

Any ideas, insights, pointers etc etc?
