Another detail I forgot to mention is that I can do the install
when connected to the same hub as the server. But when I go to
a users desktop which is possibly on another subnet or at least a few switches away
It doesnt find the server. so its not that it cant authenticate. that works.
I have actually done installs from the samba server using the 3.5 boot CDs. But only
successfully on the same hub as the server.

More then likely the problem is that DOS does clear text authentication.

;samba.conf
encrypt passwords = no

Just a shot in the dark....

My linux samba server is visible on the network from an XP desktop but
when I try to do
an install using unattended 3.5 it cannot see the server. It usually
asks for a password when
I try to map to it. or when I do start\run\ \\itcweb\install.
I have an Identical windows server using unattended 2.7 that works fine.
I believe my problem is that I have to tweak the Samba server to work
with the domain.
But Im not an expert with samba and Im not sure what Im over looking.

Any clues on what the problem could be?
