This isn't directly related to unattended, but it might give some information about the quality of the Office 2003 installer. I tried to install Office 2003 from an administrative installation point and a transforms file. The installation failed iff the machine had ever had Office 2000 installed, even if it had since been removed using Add/Remove Programs. None of the logging options in msiexec gives any insight whatsoever.
