This will only manifes when booting from floppies or another persistent media. To manifest the bug, start an install with a floppy, remove the floppy and start an install with the same floppy on another computer.

During the boot process Microsoft's TCP-stack will create a hidden file \net\dhcp.prm, with the parameters from the DHCP-server. If the file already exists, the client will try to extend the old lease. Since the address is already leased to the first computer, the second computer gets a DHCPNAK. Since the lease isn't expired, the second computer will ignore the DHCPNAK, and use the same IP-address. This is NOT a good thing :->

Solution:

Add attrib.com (7k) to the floppy.

Add the following to autoexec.bat (possibly with som errorchecking around it):

attrib -r -s -h \net\dhcp.prm
del \net\dhcp.prm

Attrib is needed, since dhcp.prm is a hidden system file.
