Its usually done by an entry in protocol.ini, something like

media=bnc
or
media=auto

which usually defaults to auto - I think that stuff is vendor specific, I usually cull
it from the sample protocol.ini on their driver disk

I found an OS/2 file for the dec which I include below which gives some possible
options to play with

___________________________________________________________-
[DC21X4]
Type = NDIS

Title = "Intel 2104x/2114x 10/100 mbps Ethernet Controller"

Version = 3.00
DriverName = DC21X4$
Xports = NETBEUI, LANDD

[FILE]
Name = DC21X4.OS2
Path = IBMCOM\MACS

[SLOT]
display = "Slot Number of the Adapter"
type = decimal
default = "16"
optional = yes
range = 16-26
help = "This parameter sets the slot number of the adapter.
For a PCI adapter, use 16 for the first adapter in the system,
17 for the second, and so on."

[ConnectionType]
display = "Connection Type"
type = string
strlength = 32
optional = yes
set =
Autosense,_10Base2_(BNC),_10Base5_(AUI),_10BaseT,_10BaseT_FD,_10BaseT_No_Link_Test,_100BaseTx,_100BaseTx_FD,_100BaseT4
default = AutoSense
help = "This parameter specifies the connection type and line
speed, used on the adapter."

Subject: [Unattended] How to tell DEC 2104x card to use RJ45 instead of
BNC?

Hi list,

problem with combi NIC:
want to use RJ45 port and not BNC, but both boot disks (DOS or Linux)
automatically seem to use BNC.

Any workaround?

TIA
Gerhard
