The speed of the machine *will* make a difference.. 

But that cap will not be hit as soon as the one caused by trying to copy
50 Windows XP CDs to 50 different PCs on the same network..
(Essentially the first part of the install.)

Once past that part - sure - everything should be a little faster -
until something like Microsoft Office install starts where it is more
likely it will take enough time so that many machines are doing it at
the same time.  It's a question of bandwidth really at that point in my
experience.  I used to install Windows NT workstations this way (many
moons ago) and you could only get so many on a 10Mbit network.  

It improved with 100Mbit, but by then I was using Ghost (not multicast
however) and ran into the same problem but transferring an entire image.
At least Ghost images can synch up when you have many going - don't know
if copying many different little files to dozens of separate machines
will experience the same phenomenon - I would guess "yes".
