Hi Tomasz, hi folks,
I also thought of such a CD. I once had to set up a remote computer. I
took my notebook, a usb-harddrive and a knoppix-CD with me when I had to
travel to that remote location.
I set up the samba server with the knoppix and used the unattended
directory tree and the all the software packages on the usb-disk. It's
easier modifing scripts and updating packages this way.
So I transfered my notebook into the unattended install server. It was
not the best considering performance but it did the job.
My approach would be to forge a slender linux on the CD with tftpd,
dhcpd, samba. When it boots, it looks on the harddisk partitions for the
unattended directory and configures everything. Maybe it has to ask a
few questions like IP-Address, MAC-Addresses, user account, passwords etc.
After that, the unattended server is ready to go.
I would really like to try this out but my spare time is very limited
right now. I cannot tell, when I get around to work on it.
Best Regards
Thomas

legal and you can still get what you need. A Pain yes, but we dont want

Well, I don't think it has to be a "pain" to set up.
We could provide a "live cd" (a one without any proprietary stuff like
Windows etc.), which would create another live cd ISO image - this time,
including Windows (the path to Windows would be specified by a user),
and other software.
I think, given the limited amount of time I have - I could create it in
a month or so (maybe wit some help)?
What do you think? Any takers?
