Yes, I know I'm "doing it wrong"; my point is that "doing it right" requires picking apart the source code and reverse-engineering the build process for the sake of adding a few dozen characters to a single file, all so I can override defaults that make no sense for any real Windows production environment. (If you're going to enable Guest, you may as well dispense with the login entirely and just set the share/fs perms on \\ntinstall\install to Everyone:Read)
Well, I install via a serial console because I'm blind but doesn't it give you a chance to over-ride the booddisk defaults about 10 seconds into the boot? It says something like, "Over ride boot disk defaults? (If unsure say yes)". I believe I've used that to change the z_user, z_pass, and z_path.
But my memory on that is kind of fuzzy because I have a modified boot CD. (See my other message for details on that.)
Another thing you can do is hold the shift key down while booting. Then you will get a boot prompt that allows you to do things like add a serial console or change z_user & z_pass. Hold the shift key down while the PC boots from the CD. You'll get a prompt that says boot:. At the boot prompt, type 'unattended z_path=\\your\path z_user=youruser z_pass=yourpass'.
I used this method for a couple of weeks but it got to be a pain. That's when I learned how to make a boot CD. I'll admit it took me a week or so to learn how to do that but that knowledge came in handy elsewhere. For instance, you can use the same basic technique to make modifications to a knoppix CD. [knoppix is linux on a bootable CD in case you're not familiar with it.[
