I use a batch file which is in my scripts directory:

todo.pl "echo y | format d: /v:data /q /fs:ntfs"

There is one caveat, if the drive has an existing d drive with a volume label 
the format command will fail. parted (booting from linux) doesn't seem to 
wipe out the old partion information correctly. Just something to keep in mind 
when 
reusing old hard drives.
