I’m actually using pxeboot to start the install.  And are you talking about in the BIOS for that setting?  I haven’t seen any settings in the BIOS like that.  In fact, the BIOS on this server seems to be lacking.

You're using the linux boot iso?

Try setting the SATA operation mode to combination instead of the default (think it's called normal).

Then just boot up again.

Has anyone seen the install fail to detect the boot device on a Dell Poweredge 850?  I don’t think that Dell is emulating an IDE drive on this model so I’m guessing that I’ll have to install a SATA driver????

 

Anyone else had any luck with this?
