What are you placing there, the .exe files or the files that get extracted? I don't know it's just the way that Intel wants it, check out the readme. I think maybe they do it that way so that the chipset driver will always be installed first. If the chipset driver is not getting installed, the NIC driver will not be able to be installed either.
