Subject: [Unattended] HP DL360/380 install problems
I'm trying to get some Windows Server 2003 installs going on HP DL360
and DL380 machines, and I keep running into similar issues.
The initial PXE boot to the linux setup screen works just fine, and I
can go through the entire setup process. After that all of the files get
copied onto the disk by the Windows installer and the system reboots.
Once it goes into the installer again, however, I get an error about
missing files. It's always a file in the OEM directory that's showing up
as missing.
Oddly enough, doing a clean install on these systems from a bare W2K3 CD
works just fine. (I don't have to load any OEM drivers or anything.)
Has anyone seen this behavior before, and do you have any tips? If not
I'd be happy to troubleshoot it a bit as time at work permits. We get
one or two DL-series servers in each month, and some of them go through
4-5 reinstalls before entering production, so I'd love to be able to at
least automate the Windows installation portion of the setup.
