I just use a shell script to do it, and run it last in the unattended install, using netdom.exe, available from the winxp sp2 support tools

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=49AE8576-9BB9-4126-9761-BA8011FABF38&displaylang=en

(we use cygwin, /home/Administrator, etc, with the netdom.exe in the admin home dir) - but it can all be done from windows command prompt

#!/bin/bash
hostname=`hostname`
./netdom.exe remove $hostname /Domain:DOMAIN /UserD:USERNAME /PasswordD:PASSWORD
./netdom.exe join $hostname /Domain:DOMAIN /userD:USERNAME /PasswordD:PASSWORD /REBoot:5

hopefully that will help.

Hi Everybody,

Some time ago I did set up an unattended to set-up one of my
workstations, as I didn't have a PDC all was based on workgroups and it
worked perfectly.

Now, I did setup my linux server as a samba PDC and wanted to update my
unattended scripts to automatically join the domain but I ran into 2
problems:

1.) The windows setup complains that the supplied user in unattended.txt
does not have the right to join the domain, so there the installation
stops first.

But I don't see what's wrong, here some excerpts from unattended.txt

[_meta]
     ntp_servers="europe.pool.ntp.org pool.ntp.org"
     bottom="cleanup.bat"
     autolog = " autolog.pl --logon=1 --user=marc --password=xxxxxx
--domain=HOMENETWORK"
     edit_files = 0

[UserData]
     FullName="Marc Elser"
     OrgName="Home"
     ProductKey="4X7WM-GTH3D-DWVCV-H382J-HPMRD"
     ComputerName="Desktop"

[Identification]
     JoinDomain=HOMENETWORK
     DoOldStyleDomainJoin = Yes
     DomainAdmin=HOMENETWORK\marc
     DomainAdminPassword=xxxxx
     CreateComputerAccountInDomain = No

2.) In "base.bat" I did add a script re-logon with the domain user using
the autolog.pl script, however after the reboot todo.pl stops
complaining the the user I logged on is not an Administator and --user
is not supplied. So, I suspect I have to add the domain user to the
local Administrator group using the "NET" command, but I don't know how
to do this. Does anyone know the syntax how to join a domain user to the
local machine's Administrator group?
