I agree that we need a new working CVS that compile without problems.
But are we the only ones out there using the dosboot as a complement to
the Linuxboot? When problems started to appear with SATA machines we
gave the dosboot images a try.

As far as I can recall we are yet to find a machine (including laptops)
that do
not install WinXP using unattended PXE boot.

We use a combination of an older Linuxboot kernel and a handfull of
dosboot
images. This enables us to work with a broad range of machines from old
PII
machines without PXE-bios to modern SATA machines like HP DC7700.
Other machines worth mentioning are numerous laptop models including
newer SATA HP's like NW8440, NX7400, NC2400 and 3 Sony VAIO models.

For our situation there is really only one downside with the dosboot, it
requires an extra reboot due to some MBR stuff. (fixable?)

The only thing I had to do was to update some freedos files and the
driver
files inside the old 4.6 dos images.
Freedos files choice.exe, emm386.exe, himem.exe, command.com &
kernel.sys.
Drivers b44.dos, b57.dos, rtsnd.dos, e100b.dos & e1000.dos.

I hope this can help some of you that have machines that you are unable
to
install with the currently available Linuxboot.
