Hi Guys,

I am looking for information how to "Integrate" "SATA drivers" into
"Unattended" "Silent" install.

So far I found that I need to create a directory

~install/os/winxp_p/I386/$oem$/TEXTMODE

and copy files (.inf and .oem and drivers itself) into this directory.

I have to support more than 2000 computers at Univercity and you can
guess that we have a very good variety of hardware. What would be a best
way to integrate OEM drivers for more critical hardware pieces like
SATA/SCSI HDDs, LAN, Video, Sound cards?

Now my question:

Can I create subdirectories in this directory, let say for some
particular mainboard?
If not it could happen that several manufactures could give same names
to .inf, .oem, driver filenames. Then what should I do?

Let say did anybody tested something like

.../TEXTMODE/D845PESV
.../TEXTMODE/P4P800-VM
...
.../TEXTMODE/OtherBoard

According Microsoft documentation

      $OEM$\Textmode

The $OEM$\Textmode subfolder contains new or updated files for
installing mass storage device drivers and HALs. These files can include
OEM HALs, drivers for SCSI devices, and Txtsetup.oem, which directs the
loading and installing of these components. Be sure to include the
Txtsetup.oem file. All files placed in the $OEM$\Textmode subfolder
(HALs, drivers, and Txtsetup.oem) must be listed in the [OEMBootFiles]
section of the answer file.

Could you refer me to a better documentation about this subject than

http://unattended.sourceforge.net/step-by-step.php (Add device Drivers)
http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/3d64370b-d9bf-4a31-abcf-6f1da86ef8641033.mspx?mfr=true

Well, do you think that

.../TEXTMODE/Chipset1
.../TEXTMODE/Chipset2
...
.../TEXTMODE/ChipsetN

would better idea?
(In this case I have to keep a track what chipset is used on what
computer, in first variant I would have or to mark each computer with
sticker what mainboard it has or keep it in some database for future
reference)

Is there any script (automation tool) to extract required files from
windows drivers you download from their websites (nowadays you will find
that driver for network/video card can be 20-60MB download, but you need
a very few files extracted from this driver pack)?

How do you go about integration OEM drivers into "Unattended" install?

Thank you,
Andrey
