A bunch of new computers (not Dell) we recently purchased won't boot
Linux without the "noapic" command line option. Yuck.

While this is not a unattended specific problem (Ubuntu also had the
same issue), perhaps some sort of documentation saying how to alter the
kernel command line would be useful?

In my case I found if I fiddle enough with the left shift key while the
kernel is loading, eventually I get the boot prompt.
