hello

I found a workaround page http://www.wlug.org.nz/SambaNotes
-use smbclient interactively;
-mount the remote share as type cifs instead of type smbfs; or
-use a vanilla kernel or a backport of a later kernel that is packaged for
debian.

how can I force 4.7 to mount with cifs?

Anders

thank you very much, that was it.
newbies like me should not be let out!

but when windows setup starts, I get the following errors

smb_proc_readX_data: offset is larger than SMB_READX_MAX_PAD or negative!

what can I do for that?

Anders

label ua47
        kernel ua47/bzImage
        append initrd=ua47/initrd z_path=//server/install

this is how it looks in my old pxelinux.cfg/default file... (using pxegrub now,
easier to use for the non-techies)

i think you forgot the initrd= before the initrd specification (see modified
version below)

         prod.4.7.bzImage and prod.4.7.initrd are copied from linuxboot.iso

could you pass on your pxelinux.cfg/default file?
(or the menu.lst file if you use pxegrub)

for the CD load, looks like is not able to find the right
modules. Seem
like we need to modify the kernel for your system.

maybe you can try to use the tftp?
