In my opinion, unattended-gui is better, because you can effectively get
a zero-touch installation environment. You configure each machine
through a web interface prior to turning it on, and then either PXE boot
or CD boot, and everything else is done automatically.

With unattended, you have to choose the parameters each time you boot a
new PC, so requires more interaction at the beginning. But once that's
done, they're pretty much equal really.

In my experience, unattended-gui is much faster to configure per PC (sub
1 minute on average), because you can use packages quite powerfully,
especially if you have quite homogenous installations. Unattended tends
to take the same amount of time per machine, no matter how complex the
installation (~5 minutes if I remember rightly).

My company migrated at the end of 2007, and my team loves it. I'm glad
we took the plunge, and wouldn't want to go back to unattended now!
However, setup of unattended-gui was less straight-forward compared to
unattended, but there was lots of help on this list.

That's my two cents.

Subject: [Unattended] Unattended vs Unattended-GUI

I have just setup unattended and got it semi-working (still need to
tweak a few things, but works ok), now I've just learned about an
"unattended-GUI" that sounds like has nothing to do with the first. I
would like to get opinions as to which one is more compatible, works
better/easier, less complicated, more customizable, etc...

please let me know.
