Greg, I only can tell you my point of view on this. I usually update to the latest stable version that is recommended by their development team. I can not get track of all the new features (I like the 5.0 version as it was working as well on the win98 platform) so I can not tell you what 9.0 offers. Nothing will stop you to use a previous version of adobe-reader.bat, just rename to local.adobe-reader.bat and change your script so this one gets called. Maybe you can wait for other languages to get into the 9.0 and then update our scripts.
