hello,
i've being working with Unattended scripts for about 2 weeks now and so far i
was able to install 6 operating systems on the 2 computers i have for testing,
everything works, both pc's are Dell's. I have 3 problems right now which i
hope someone will be able to help me with. I have been using 2 other pc's i
have from which one is running centos linux and the other windows xp. the
centos pc is running the unattended scripts, the windows xp is running all the
tftpboot scripts because i was not able to make tftpboot run in centos, all xp
tftpboot files dont work on centos pc when i transfer them over to linux, i
dont want to use 2 pc's all the time for this to work. I dont know which linux
files i need to upload to boot tftpboot directory from linux. I have yet to
find a way to change the default \\ntinstall\install shares to something like a
directory on the same linux system.
I have being finding solutions from the mailing archive and also the faq and
wiki sections of the site. I have yet to find a script to update windows xp SP2
to windows xp3.
I have a problem now with an IBM computer which supports booting from network
with PXE. it's my problem # 3 below.
1) how to use only 1 pc for everything, pxe booting and o/s file shares and to
edit default path.
2) i will use the database to populate different settings for different
computer setups using \lib\conf-mysql.pl, anyone using SME server and
Unattended ?
3) booting from the IBM computer i get this error:
FreeDOS HIMEM64 3.12 [Sep 11 2005] (c) 1995, Till Gerken 2001-2005 tom ehlert
HIMEM - BIOS A20 method used
UMB's unavailable
Kernel: allocated 40 Diskbuffers = 21280 Bytes in HMA
this is the point where the computer hangs...
Thanks,
I. S. O.
Suggestion for next releases:
A user interface to setup unattended, like shares path, admin panel for
computers setups, admin panel for contrab jobs to keep scripts up-to-date, easy
to edit .bat files and important files withing the admin area...i guess there's
plenty more ideas to add here.
