Bev: A fairly good writer...but I have nothing to say that anyone would want to
read.

Bonita: Haha! I laughed out loud here since I was very interested in reading
what you just had to say and I was in the process of reading it! Although some
might say I am out-of-the-venn too, but it would be because I wear my nerd card
proudly, announce it to my peers and students with a big smile. That way,
people do not misunderstand me--yes, I AM THAT interested in things.

I could not help thinking, as reading Bev's and Ellin's post, about Picasso. I
heard you, Bev, when you said you were not into artists and that is okay, but
you might want to look up some of Picasso's thoughts just for fun. Picasso's
art is often misunderstood, but he told people, proudly, that his goal was to
paint like a child. Over the years, this goal of his has haunted my
intellectual life. I find it interesting that even in religions we read ideas
about, "being like a child." Here is my take on the matter. Ivory tower
intellects are faking it. (Not all of them--I have met many that are just like
curious children). Children are the real scholars, especially three year olds
because they have not had time to have their curiosity squashed by schooling
and adults and they still incessantly ask, "Why?". Since, Bev, you express
great interest and curiosity in children's minds and learning (I suspect we on
this list share your obsession), you are, in fact, a true intellectual IMHO.
And I LOVED reading your post.

:)Bonita
