Wow! I have been following the conversations and it is so interesting. We are a Reading First school and we do use the basal. Believe it or not, doing Reading First did make our staff rethink reading. We had to do online modules. For some of the staff - it had been 15 years since taking a class. Luckily, I started reading Mosaic of Thought at the same time, which opened up a whole new world - intellectual world for me. I have learned so much from Mosaic, To Understand, and this group. Unfortunately, I think with all teachers do now, some people just do not have time to pick up a book and read. We have a small Mosaic group going and this is the first such group in my 22 year teaching career. I think this group is just what I needed. I love the new book and am taking it all in.
