And how I love your observation, "I find the "take away" piece to be primarily an emotional attachment that then links to a more concrete or cognitive connection." Oh, yes! That's a keeper! Brilliant observation! My students know I love to read and love books and are always trying to figure out what is "really" my favorite. I recently overheard a darling boy heatedly whisper to another, "No, you can't tell if she strokes it like that--she does that to lots of books."
