It's like fast food and fine dining.  Taco John's just doesn't cut it all
the time and when I get the chance  to enjoy a fine meal, I want to savor
it.  I think comprehension strategies are about savoring but also about
building an toolbox for those times when quick reads don't cut it.

As fast-paced as life may be, even for those who are not passionate about
pleasure reads, there are times when deep understanding is required. Signing
a mortgage (or any other kind of contract), pondering a major purchase
through research, the need to research and understand a health issue...
