A group of us, both veterans and new teachers, met through the summer to discuss To Understand. We've decided to continue that discussion, starting over again - there's so much to absorb! However, some of us have also just finished Debbie Miller's new book, Teaching With Intention. We have thought about encouraging members of our group to read that book along with Keene's. Debbie offers some 'ways in' that may scaffold new teachers in the comprehension strategies and this would help them be in a better position to understand Keene. We're thinking the combination would deepen our discussions of TU partially by building some of that background knowledge many of you have referred to. I'm wondering what others think. She really gets it together! Very accessible. > Date: Mon, 29 Sep 2008 05:01:39 -0700> From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected]> Subject: Re: [Understand] Beginning with Chapter One> > This is proving to be a most interesting new beginning in our efforts To Understand! > > A group of us, both veterans and new teachers, met through the summer to discuss To Understand.
