Yes for 1.x, but the OT support in FT 1.3+ is experimental at best, and very far from what can be achieve by the others typesetting systems mentionned in this thread. Now the Freetype group will develop FTL (Free Type Layout) which intent is exactely the point talked about: rendering. The input will be Unicode, and the Open Type concept will probably be center to the design, but we shall take care to _not_ depend on OT-enabled fonts. Antoine
