Hi all,
I am relatively new to this list and hence this might be a FAQ. But
i could'nt find a valid answer to my problem.

        My System architecture:
1: A Web application, written using WebObjects 4.5 and Java (
JDK 1.1.6) on Mac OS X server
        2: Oracle 8i DB
3: Browsers-- Netscape 4.7 and IE 5.0 for the Macintosh
4: The approporiate language kits have been installed, on Mac
OS 9.

I am entering Japanese chars to start with and my font
settings for the UTF-8 charset is Osaka.

I have found very vague behaviour with
Netscape 4.7 ( for the Macintosh)
1: I enter an Unicode character in a text box and submit the
page.
I see that it is properly encoded (in UTF8) and stored in
the DB.
I also notice that in my application the correct Unicode
character has been retrieved from the DB.
But Sometimes, very strangely, junk characters appear in the
textbox .
How is it possible that the browser displays the character
correctly and then again does'nt?
2: IE 5.0 for the Macintosh:-
Here, I never got to see the correct Unicode character in a
TEXTBOX ( input type=text....).
                I always see question marks (????) !!
I can see the same if it is outside a textbox. So the
correct value is being sent to the
browser but it is not able to render it correctly in a
textbox.
                Has anyone faced this before?

3: Where can I obtain info regarding the UTF8 compatibilty of
various browsers?
i.e How efficient they are in handling Unicode characters?

Thanks in Advance!
Thejo
