Slight correction: Apple and Microsoft own the original TT spec and Apple owns our additions to it. Whenever there's a change made to the core tables common to all the TT-derived formats (e.g., 'cmap'), MS, Apple, and -- in actual practice -- Adobe consult back and forth to make sure we're all OK with it.
