Sorry, Michael, but this is important because I understand that there will be a separate UTC discussion on collation of san and sampi, and I don't want UTC members to be confused by rereading N1938. You are by no means the only person to be confused by these two characters
I was not "confused", Peter. I assumed that SAMPI derived from SAN, and said so on the first page: "(SAN > SAMPI)", as Thompson does on page 91 of his Introduction to Greek and Latin Palaeolography, which I had seen in 1998. I may have been, with Thompson, incorrect, but I was not confused.
